Hands on with the Sprint tri-band modems

Sprint has the entire spectrum of the map. "Truly unlimited" carrier is actually a confusing array of radio waves, also an old Nextel frequencies in the 800 MHz, Sprint and Clearwire 1.9 GHz radio spectrum at 2.5 GHz. assembled correctly, these waves could make a big Indoor, outdoor, and city coverage, but the company has never been able to until then.

Three of the new modems, today introduced at CTIA Wireless will help Sprint begins with a gather all of this together. Netgear 341U USB modem, touchscreen Netgear Zing and plump Novatel MiFi 500 LTE networks, so they hit three of the new go-to-equipment for people who want an unlimited, unrestricted LTE connection to Sprint on the different networks. I spent a little while and Sprint's Director of product development manager, Ryan Sullivan here at CTIA trade show.

Zing is the finest of the bunch. Is Sprint's first touch-screen with a very attractive data counter in front of you. Its 2 500mAh battery will give it about 10 hours of continuous use. It operates worldwide, UMTS 3 g European bands. Bottom of the available ports, dual external antenna an external dock, making possible the home modem. And the handsome, about the size and shape of a deck of playing cards. It probably is the Sprint's premier product.

I hope the MiFi costs a bit less because it looks like a wallflower next to the zippy Zing. It is rounder and thicker than a shot, the simpler the LCD display, which is surrounded by a dull grey hard buttons. Even though it is thicker than the shot, there is a smaller capacity 1, 800mAh battery. Novatel always makes high-quality products, the company has earned a lot of vendor choices for us — but this device seems a bit low end.

I can say the best thing is that it is U341 USB modem which is very good, because there is not enough USB modems are still there. USB modems connect just one computer at a time, but they are an absolute lifesavers in the places where the Parking, the atmosphere is too full. Also, there is no need to worry about their batteries. U341 is not without frills; in it, which shows the connection status, signal strength and data usage, which I haven't seen before the USB modem is a small LCD screen. This summer, three modems. First tri-band smartphone, Samsung and LG will be by the end of this year.

The three networks, three launch dates.
Modems also can come into their own until the end of the year. Sure, they're working on Sprint's existing 1.9 GHz LTE network of 88 cities, but they are smart firmware, which will be transferred to the bands, including, where applicable, the soft sales network, which does not drop the connection between the two. 800 MHz band is limited (and slower) network, but it is better in-building penetration and 2.5 GHz TD-LTE Cleawrire n offers great speed in densely populated urban areas.

The first piece of the puzzle is left in its place. in June, when the last of the old Sprint Nextel iDen towers turns out and immediately translate the first 800 MHz LTE. The rest of the Nextel network, more than the rest of the slides over LTE, which will improve Sprint's building coverage.

Clearwire is still a mystery, though. The company is trapped in the acquisition battle for Sprint and clear ideas about it and refuses to dish when it comes to starting a TD-LTE network. Sullivan said, we start seeing the Clearwire taking cities "by the end of this year."

AT&T and Verizon far Sprint LTE coverage (and T-Mobile HSPA + 42 is doing a good job offer without LTE 4 G speeds) on the Sprint network rollouts is to be regarded as its pedal to the Metal.
